Sports Coaches

About Us

The ELOSCN Sport Coach and Development Team currently operate in our Breakfast and After School Clubs, delivering fun, structured sport sessions from P1 – P7 children. As multi-sport coaches, we look to give children the opportunity to play as many different sports as possible, while also planning with the children, to play some of their favourite games and sports.

Our Aim

Our overall aim as sports coaches is to engage as many children in to physical activity as possible, and help them to find a love for sport and activity. We look to help transition children from the sessions we do in club, to extra curricular sport clubs to help continue their progression within sport.

As a team, we have also looked at increasing girl’s engagement in sport and activity, after highlighting smaller uptake in our sport sessions at clubs. This has been a success, and we continue to work as a team to support a strong uptake in our sessions from everyone.

We have explored as many different sports and games as possible, and have looked to deliver a strong variety of sports in our clubs, giving kids the access to sports they may not be able to try in school and extra-curricular clubs. We have also delivered sessions based on real life events, for example delivering Commonwealth Games sports while the games are on in Glasgow.

Our Team

The Sport Coach and Development Team have diverse background in Sport Coaching, with coaches being qualified as Athletics, Rugby, Football and Basketball coaches. We look to bring our experience from these coaching qualifications into our sessions, and are always looking to expand our skillset across a large variety of sports.

PE Teaching

Our team have been expanding outside of the Breakfast and After School Clubs. Our team have been working in Stoneyhill Primary School since late 2023, delivering PE lessons to all children within the school throughout the week. This has proved to be a big success, with children, teachers and parents all providing positive feedback.

We have also worked in Craighall Primary School and Leith Primary School, delivering similar PE sessions, and are always looking to expand in to other schools across East Lothian and Edinburgh.

Our team have also worked in Dunbar Grammar School, assisting their future leaders programme. This included helping S3’s gain the skillsets needed to coach younger children in sport and activity, and we have taken this program and delivered an altered version to older children at our clubs.

As a team, we love coming in to club and seeing children have fun during our sessions and games. We always like to hear how the children would change our sessions and what they would like to play every week. Ultimately, seeing the children progress through sport and activity is our favourite part, and makes each day rewarding.
