Cockenzie Breakfast and After School Club is a fun, play-based setting offering wraparound care for children aged 5–12 (Primary 1 to Primary 7). We are based in our own dedicated building next to the small playground, providing a safe and familiar space where children can relax, play, and spend time with their friends.

We pride ourselves on creating a warm, caring environment where every child is valued. We offer a wide range of resources to suit different interests and personalities, including a Lego table, board games, a Nintendo Switch, arts and crafts, a woodwork bench, various toys and plenty of outdoor equipment for active play.

At the end of the school day, our P1–P3 children are collected by a member of staff from their pick-up points, while P4–P7 children make their own way to the club. Once everyone arrives, the children come together to wash their hands before settling down for snack time if they choose to do so.

Children help choose snack options each week, giving them a sense of involvement and choice. We always offer a selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, along with water or milk. This is a lovely opportunity for everyone to chat, share news, and discuss the activities planned for the session.

After snack, children are free to choose how they spend their time. They can relax with friends, explore the resources available, or take part in planned adult-led activities. Our space includes a small kitchen area, toilets with wash basins, a main play and snack area, a cosy corner to allow some down time with books and a Tonie box, also a dedicated craft room where children can get creative.

We encourage outdoor play every day, with children able to use the playground or playing fields. We also enjoy trips to the parks and the beach, giving children the chance to explore and have fun in the wider community.

One of the lovely things about our club is the mix of ages, allowing children to build friendships across year groups.
